Hey everyone, I have a perverse craving to know how thick and slow I am comparatively. I was wondering how long on average it took you to be able to solve medium puzzles without greening up? Weeks? Months? Years? I am at the point where I can always get the easies without green and most of the time the mediums, but on hards and experts I have to use at least some green. I don't have a pro account so I do one puzzle a day but it took me at least a year and some before I could get the mediums without green. I have been doing this for over 1.5 years and at the beginning I attempted several puzzles a day but that nuber dwindled only doing the one here at this site. Just curious.

I find the mediums more often difficult than the hards or experts. They can take me an hour or more. Best strategy, I find, is to leave 'em for awhile and come back.

Done, no greens. Loushka - I can't tell you how long but it took me awhile to do some of these puzzles without greens - takes practice and learning some of the "tricks" . I will say that I find the puzzles on this site harder than on other sites I've played, in general.

Loushka - I was doing sudoku puzzles before starting this online one. I never use greens but every once in a while I take an educated guess - mostly because I get in a hurry. I find the mediums more difficult than the hard as well, must be the tricks I use work better on the hard.

Loushka, I'm with you. I still need greens to get some puzzles, but the wall I've run into is that I haven't studied the "advanced techniques".

Loushka, I seem to recall that I was four months or so till I could reliably get Mediums without greens. I had the hardest time spotting loners. I had to itemize 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. to find what digits were missing. It took a few years till I could almost see what digits were missing without the roll call method. I'm beginning to remember cells with only two options and virtual rows. That last ability helps tremendously in Mediums. I think Mediums are not much harder than Easies, only a bit more interesting. But Hards I seldom get without greens. And Experts -- when I get stuck without greens, I might just turn it off.
